Cost Accountant

Lista International, Storage and Workspace Solutions, division of Stanley Black & Decker in Holliston, Massachusetts is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their Finance team. This position will be responsible for all Cost Accounting functions including preparation of monthly close and completion of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. The Cost Accountant will also be responsible for proper accounting and analysis of manufacturing costs and identifying and analyzing variances from both budget and standards along with summarizing and communicating financial results to operations and management personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for closing and reconciling sub ledgers to the General Ledger.
• Prepares monthly accounting journal entries and account reconciliations accurately and within required timelines.
• Analyzes expenses and inventory accounts to determine amounts and sources of variances, from budget and standard.
• Maintains proper financial presentation of cost of goods sold, inventory, and manufacturing variances.
• Maintains accurate inventory cost standards.
• Prepares monthly financial reports that will enable management to understand the financial results and will assist them in making sound operating decisions.
• Plans and coordinates annual physical inventory and its audit. Ensures smooth execution and accurate inventory count and validation.
• Prepares analyses for ad hoc projects such as profitability analysis or cost benefit analysis on new products or redesign projects.
• Supports manufacturing management in all cost reporting, including analysis, reporting of monthly financial results and preparing annual budgets.
• Analyzes unvouched inventory receipts and makes appropriate recommendations for write-offs.
• Assists with review of fixed asset requests to ensure accurate financial assessment and ROI of capital investments.
• Supports Accounts Payable function to research and resolve invoice/PO discrepancies.
• Responsible for Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance and reporting within Finance scope.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Accounting
• 2-4 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing industry
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP) Costing, General Ledger, Bills of Material, etc.
• Must be detail oriented and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Must have a solid understanding of cost accounting concepts, bills of material and routing structures.
• Proven ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines along with multitasking and able to prioritize responsibilities as demands change.
• Self-motivated individual that works well independently and as part of a team.
